Castlevania Fighter Review
Developed with the MUGEN engine, Castlevania Fighter offers a huge assortment of Castlevania characters. Playable characters include a host of classic Castlevania titles, as well as several prominent members of the Belmont family.
Characters can use many different weapons and special attacks, some of which are unique to each character. For example, Charlotte uses magic spell subweapons and Hugh can charge his special attack.
Some characters can also recharge their special moves with a "Charged Attack" gauge that builds up on the left side of the screen. This can be used to increase the effectiveness of special attacks, such as an item crush or smart bomb.
Bosses can also use a form of smart bomb called "Rosaries," which is an item version that will cause your opponent's health to drain and kill them. Dracula has his own form of this that he can use in the third phase of battle, but he'll usually charge it in the fourth.
The game has many modes, ranging from Story Mode to Castle Versus. The latter mode offers a variety of mission and battle challenges (though it sends you back to the previous save point after each one).
Character customization features are also present, including a wide selection of accessories that can be paired with any character's default costume. This includes a bunny tail for Alucard and Ram horns for Maria, among others.
The only downside to this game is that its gameplay is rather clunky and fast-paced at times. This is due to a movement system that has limited motion options. While this may not sound like a big deal, it does make Castlevania Judgment feel very sloppy.
